Parent Participation
At Narrows Cooperative Preschool, parent involvement is the cornerstone of our community. Families play an active role in the classroom and behind the scenes, contributing to a vibrant, supportive environment for our children. Through various responsibilities and opportunities, parents help foster a love of learning and a sense of belonging for every child.
Each family commits to one job and one committee if not serving on the Board.
JOB & Committee
Each family commits to one job and committee (unless on the Board). Jobs help ensure the school’s daily operations run smoothly, and committees assist with various events throughout the year.
Parent Education Credits
Families attend parent education sessions throughout the year, gaining valuable insights into child development, learning strategies, and fostering positive relationships.
Board Member
Parents help guide the school’s operations and policies. Board members attend once a month meetings, ensuring the school can run smoothly!
CLASSROOM CLEANING
Parents dedicate 3-4 hours on a Saturday during the school year to help deep clean the classroom, ensuring a clean and safe environment for the children. This collaborative effort fosters pride in our shared space. Board members are exempt from this responsibility, and their cleaning fee is waived as part of their service.
This is child-free.
FUNDRAISERS
Fundraising events are vital to sustaining our preschool’s programs, supplies, and activities. These efforts not only support the school financially but also bring families together in a shared mission to enrich the educational experience.
SNACKS
The parent assigned as the 'A' parent for the day is responsible for providing a healthy snack for the class. This system promotes teamwork and ensures children have a nutritious option during their time at school.
CLASSROOM TRAINING
Parents receive training on how to assist effectively during class sessions, including guidance on child safety and educational activities.
CLASSROOM HELPER
Parents assist in the classroom about three days a month, rotating through different sections such as art, dramatic play, and outdoor activities. This hands-on role provides flexibility, allowing families to swap days or adjust schedules as needed.
